In mid-June the ICML, one of the world’s most important conferences for machine learning, took place in Long Beach, California. Key takeaways are: Google is by far leading in terms of number of publications. The Max Planck Institute is the leading German contributor (31th overall) and Bosch comes in 35th. Luckily, research papers are mostly freely accessible and many of the algorithms are also available as Open Source implementations on Github.
